Apple restricted the use of AirDrop functionality after the arrival of iOS 16.1.1.
A few weeks ago, Apple restricted the use of AirDrop’s “everyone” setting in China by introducing a 10-minute restriction in iOS 16.1.1 to prevent content propaganda against President Xi Jinping.
Soon, AirDrop’s 10-minute limit was extended to iOS 16.2 and spread all over the world. The drop parameters they have changed and “for everyone” is no longer a permanent option.
Now, iPhone, iPad, Mac and other Apple device users who want to use the AirDrop feature will have to resort to setting up this feature much more often. So in this article we will explain different methods
How to Change AirDrop Settings
Until now, as 9to5mac reports, the AirDrop feature had three configuration options: Receiving Off, Contacts Only, and Everyone.
Since iOS 16.2, the “Everyone” option has become “All for 10 Minutes”. This means that users will have to wait 10 minutes to rebroadcast the content to another user who is not in their contact list.
There are three different methods to change AirDrop settings.
Control center
This is the fastest and most efficient setup option for AirDrop. Follow these steps to change the settings for this feature in iOS 16.2.
1. Swipe down from the top right corner of the iPhone screen to open Control Center
2. Keep your finger pressed on the panel for Wi-Fi and other connectivity options.
3. Click the AirDrop button to change its settings.
Settings app
AirDrop also lets you change its settings through the iOS 16 Settings app.
1. Open the Settings app.
2. Then go to the General section.
3. Finally click on the AirDrop section.
Siri
Another option to set up AirDrop can be through Siri voice commands.
If you ask Siri to change AirDrop settings, Apple’s virtual assistant will say “sorry, I can’t do that” – Apple please add a command for this feature – but if you leave the AirDrop tab open in Settings and outputs, you can ask Siri “open settings” and you’ll be back in no time.
Sure, it’s not the most ideal option for changing AirDrop settings every 10 minutes, but it gives less of a stone.
