Just last week, a new firmware update was released for AirPods Pro, a new version that improves the quality of active sound cancellation installed by Apple's wireless headsets. Now they are the second-generation AirPods recently received a new firmware update, goes to version 2D15.
For the second generation Apple had some problems regarding the firmware, the company released in December the firmware 2C54 for the AirPods 2, but soon after retirement, so other users may have their AirPods upgraded to firmware version 2C54, while some are still in the old version 2A364.
The new firmware update for AirPods 2 is 2D15 and is available to all users, though we don't know for sure all the news, since Apple is not reporting. Possible, some issues that have arisen will be resolved, so our recommendation is to update your generation's AirPods as soon as possible.
How to update AirPods 2
As is the case with the new features and enhancements for each AirPods update, it's hard to find, with them the method of updating AirPods is different, it is not accurate. Apple has developed a system so that this update is fully visible to users, however you can "force it" by following the steps below, even though they don't always work.
The first thing to do check if you already have the new version installed, your AirPods 2 can be upgraded without realizing:
- Connect second-generation AirPods to your iOS device.
- Open the Settings app on iPhone or iPad.
- Go to General> Details> AirPods.
- Take a look at the firmware version, if it is a 2D15 already updated.

Once you have tested the firmware, if you have version 2C54 or version 2A364 you can force an update to the new version by following these steps:
- Keep second-generation AirPods in their charging case.
- Connect the charge to the charger using the Lightning cable.
- AirPods should be connected to your iOS device.
- Obviously, your iPhone or iPad should be connected to the Internet.
- We don't know exactly when it will happen, but AirPods Pro will update itself.
Our advice is leave them in this position for a while without touching them and check in a few minutes later if the second-generation AirPods are restored to version 2D15 or not. It can't do anything but wait, it's the way Apple should update AirPods.
Keep in mind that this update is intended for second-generation AirPods, the first AirPods will not be updated to the 2D15 version because they are not compatible, at least not yet. As for stories, they will play out update and test AirPods to see if any changes are made.
