The AirPods Pro 2 were something we didn’t expect in this presentation, but Apple took care of explaining it from the first minute: the ecosystem is led by the three flagships. And those are the iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods.
Together, the three great flagships of Apple manage to combine and feed each other to achieve a complete experience in everyday life, whether for sports, for work or listening to music while we relax or play sports. .
With the arrival of the AirPods 3 a few months ago, the Cupertino company left the doors open for the renewal of the AirPods Pro 2 – one of the devices that most surprised when it was launched a few years ago that still had no continuity. How can we improve on what was achieved with the first generation?
AirPods Pro 2, first impressions
Unlike other products, the AirPods Pro 2 are a perfect device for testing in such a complicated environment as the Steve Jobs Theater test area in Apple Park. With so many reporters and guests talking at the same time, it’s a terribly noisy environment.
And that’s the first thing I tried in the demo Apple staff made available to me: muting the sound. I was only able to test it for a few minutes but I was surprised by the drop in decibels achieved by the new sound cancellation mode, led by the new H2 chip it incorporates.
It remains to be tested on a more detailed day-to-day basis, such as on the street, in the subway, on an airplane and other environments where one generally needs to “disconnect” from the environment – but my first impression is that sound cancellation without being drastically more powerful, if it has improved significantly.
In terms of design, the AirPods Pro 2 themselves have few changes: a little more refinement in each of the headphones, and the same stick length. However, one of the things I liked the most: finally, you can adjust the volume of each AirPod Pro 2.
It works spectacularly: there’s no way to go wrong and it’s very easy to touch and slide your finger, almost without exerting much pressure, to increase or decrease the sound. It is not even necessary to pinch the cane for this, although we can help ourselves with two fingers if we want.
The sound is also punchier, deeper and spaced-out bass in Spatial Audio, which performs better than the previous generation. In sound cancellation mode, the nuances of the songs are always appreciated and, as I have commented with other colleagues, it is a little clearer.
The charging box also changes: with speakers so you can beep and find them easily, a hole for a cord and the possibility of recharging them even with the Apple Watch charger, are some of the novelties that we will find in this generation.
A very good update, with more details like the battery improvement that will give us more hours of use, we will have to review them in the detailed analysis that we will publish very soon. At the moment, some AirPods Pro 2 seem designed to listen to sound in new dimensions.
