A report shows how Apple’s AirTag is being misused, most of the cases are related to harassment and violence against women.
According to a report from Motherboard (via Vice), incidents involving Apple AirTags involve women being trackedfor the most part, and as a result they end up calling the police. Apple trackers are clear evidence that a special purpose item can become illegal.

For 8 months, Motherboard was responsible for reviewing police department records in the United States. Out of 150 cases where the Apple AirTag is mentioned, 50 of them are women
Of those cases, only half were able to identify who placed the AirTag. Unfortunately, this is harassment from ex-partners, husbands and even bosses. Trackers are placed on their cars to ensure they have an accurate location. A case that has been talked about is that of a model who was followed for hours without realizing that they were following her.
To cite a few case examples, a man was able to slash a woman’s tires and put an AirTag on her for tracking.
