All iPhone 16s will have the A18 processor

iPhone 16 Pro finishes and colors

New references found in Apple’s code seem to confirm that All iPhone 16 models unveiled this fall will have the same A18 processor.

The new iPhone 16 will differ in screen size and camera quality, but not in processor. Apple will abandon the new “habit” of leaving the most affordable models with last year’s processor, and this year they will all have the new A18 processor inside, necessary to be able to exploit 100% of artificial intelligence

(Apple Intelligence) which will be at the center of all iOS 18 news.

References found in the code call this way a total of 5 new iPhone models:

  • iPhone17.1
  • iPhone 17.2
  • iPhone 17.3
  • iPhone 17.4
  • iPhone 17.5

Classically Apple uses numbers at the end to denote which processor they include. As an example, we can use last year’s models:

  • iPhone 15: iPhone 15.4, with A16 processor
  • iPhone 15 Plus: iPhone 15.5 with A16 processor
  • iPhone 15 Pro: 16.1-inch iPhone with A17 processor
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max: 16.2-inch iPhone with A17 processor

So, if we look at this year’s benchmarks again, all five iPhone models will be powered by the A18 processor. It is also assumed that iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will increase their RAM to 8GBthe minimum amount that Apple has established to be able to use Apple Intelligence. Last year’s models, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, only have 6GB of RAM, which, along with the A16 processor, excluded them from the artificial intelligence of iOS 18.

The last question we have left, and one that we can’t clarify at the moment, is why there are a total of five iPhone 16 models. All rumors so far point to four models in total: iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max. This fifth model we are missing could be a new iPhone SEbut a renewal of this was not expected this fall.
