Apple has released beta 1 of iOS 18.2 and it’s an update full of new features and improvements
If iOS 18.1 is already a significant update, iOS 18.2 will not be left behind. Apple released the first beta version of iOS 18.2 and This will be an update full of news. The update not only includes new features for Apple Intelligence such as Genmoji or Image Playground, but it also comes with many other important improvements for the iPhone.
We expect iOS 18.1 to be officially released for all iPhone users next week, but before doing so, Apple surprised with the beta version of iOS 18.2, an update that expected to arrive throughout Decemberbefore the end of the year.

THE The list of new features included in the first beta of iOS 18.2 is longalthough it is true that those related to Apple Intelligence continue to be restricted, although the countries where it is available have expanded. This first beta is only compatible with iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

- Picture Playground: This application, also integrated with Messages, allows you to create images from descriptions and photos of you or your friends.
- Picture wand– This feature allows you to add images to what you have written in the Notes app. If you’re using an iPad, you can do a quick sketch with the Apple Pencil and Image Wand will turn it into something more elaborate.
- Genmoji– Designed to create custom emojis. It’s similar to Image Playground, but in a mini version, the size of an emoji. Those with iOS 18.1 can view and get information about Genmojis, but they can only be created on iOS 18.2. On older versions of iOS, they will appear as an image.
- Siri with ChatGPT: Siri can forward your requests to ChatGPT, but it’s optional. You don’t need an account and anything you ask Siri can be sent to ChatGPT if you prefer. ChatGPT has more advanced information than Siri and can generate images and text.
- Visual intelligence: On iPhone 16, Visual Intelligence helps you identify objects and places around you. Press and hold the camera control button to activate it and point the iPhone at something. You can get times and reviews by pointing to a restaurant, copy text, read aloud, search Google, ask ChatGPT questions about what you see, and much more.
- Writing tools– The Rewrite function is no longer limited to three styles. Now you can describe the tone or content you want, for example by using more dynamic words or turning an email into a poem.
- Languages and regions– In iOS 18.2, Apple Intelligence now supports English in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and the United Kingdom, in addition to US English, the rest of the world will need to continue to support ‘to wait for.

Default apps
In iOS 18.2 we have a special section in Settings to configure default apps. This section is in Settings > Apps > Default appsin European countries we have the possibility to modify more default applications, replacing those of Apple. Here are the options:
- App store.
- E-mail.
- Messages.
- Phone.
- Call filter.
- Internet browser.
- Passwords.
- Keyboard.
News for the European Union
iOS 18.2 also includes Exclusive news for iPhones from European Union countries. More specifically, we have 2 improvements:
- Custom engines for web browsers: All iPhone browsers use Apple’s WebKit engine, which may now change in applications distributed in Europe. Although in the rest of the world, Apple still requires web browsers for iPhone and iPad to be WebKit-based.
- Remove more apps from the system: For some time we have been able to remove some default apps from iOS, but not all. Starting with iOS 18.2, EU users will also be able to remove apps like App Store, Camera, Safari, Messages, and Photos.
Other news
- Volume Limits: In Settings > Sounds & Vibration, we have a new setting called Volume Limit that allows us to set the maximum volume at which the iPhone speaker can play audio. This limit will not affect phone calls, FaceTime, alarms, and other system sounds.
- Voice Memos Improvements: The application is now more professional, being able to overlay two audio recordings, with options to separate and edit the layers.
- control center– We have a new button available for tapping on Siri, it can also be assigned to the action button or lock screen buttons.
- App store– In the App Store, there is a new option to disable game previews in the Apple Arcade interface.
These are all the news from the first beta of iOS 18.2a very important update that will arrive at the end of the year and take Apple Intelligence to more places. Hopefully with iOS 18.3, Apple’s AI will reach more languages.
