Xiaomi smartphones (except those that were sold with Android One or now with Android Go), come from the hand of MIUI, the personalization layer (or fork, to be more precise), with which they have been provided. In general, if we buy these devices in Europe, They will arrive with their Global ROM, which is supposed to work fine outside of China. However, the aggressive prices of Xiaomi in China make it logical to consider importing it, thanks to which we will obtain a Xiaomi with a ROM in perfect Chinese.
If we want to change this ROM for the Global, the well-known Xiaomi.eu or, simply, fully customize our Xiaomi, we only have to download the tool that we are going to talk about today. It is the classic tool. all in one
Mi Tool V2
My Tool V2 is a program developed by a developer Independent from Xiaomi, so the tool is unofficial. Also add that the moment we make a deep modification to the system (like unlocking the bootloader), we lose the warranty (unless we manage to close it), which must be taken into account. That said, let’s see what it has to offer us. The tool works globally, so we can choose between several regions: Europe, India, China and Russia. In our case, we select Europe
Currently, it is not possible to unbrick a phone with this tool. However, the rest of the functions work perfectly (in our tests)
Here, importantly, we are shown two options. The first one is the one we should choosefrom my device works normally, I don’t want to modify it. Because? Well, for the simple fact that the second option, to unbrick a non-working device, currently inactive
Once we have selected the first option, we must connect our mobile. To work well with it, USB debugging must be enabled, which can be found in the development settings. To access it, we go to settings > telephone information > MIUI version there click on it seven times. In the developer settings we will find the USB debugging option, we activate it.
Once this option is selected, all we have to do is connect the phone by cable to the computer and start browsing the sea of options it offers us. The main menu allows us to see four options.
- Install the official Xiaomi ROM
- Install a Custom ROM
- Edit, root, twrp, etc.
- Unlock from bootloader
In our case, we unlocked the bootloader of a Xiaomi Mi 9T with this tool, and we installed TWRP Recovery thanks to it. The strong point of the service is that it looks for the files to install itself (although sometimes it’s better to find and insert them, because not all files are up to date) so if you don’t know where to find them , there is no problem.
Although this tool is in Alpha phase, it has been working for quite some time, and after our tests, we can assure you that, in our case, it worked more than well. Basically what it does is connect the phone via fastboot to our computer, and send the files from it. In other words, it saves us from having to open the command console ourselves to perform the process by hand.
