Every year, for more than a decade, Google has organized its most important event: a conference for developers where they present the news and advances of their products, including Android operating system and its multiple services and products.
This is Google I/O, the name of this annual event which this year should present not only Android, Chrome and other products from Alphabet’s portfolio, but also artificial intelligence. Mark this date on your calendars: Google I/O 2024 will take place on May 14.
What do we hope to see at the next Google I/O?
The company announced the date of Google I/O this year in a special way, through an online gameAnd puzzle this had to be solved by many people around the world in order to “spread” the ad. The more people playing it, the sooner the goal of knowing the date would be achieved.
The goal was achieved in less than 4 hours. The date is May 14, almost exactly a year after Google I/O 2023, which began on May 10, 2023.
As fans of mobile devices, especially the Android ecosystem, one of the announcements we most look forward to every year is the new version of the green Android operating system. Traditionally, Google usually gives a detailed overview of what’s new in its next massive system update for mobile devices, and this year should be no exception.
Although the company has already presented (and released) the first developer version of Android 15, this is a still very raw version of the operating system. It’s at I/O 2024 that we’ll learn more details about what we expect to see in the Android version known as “Vanilla ice cream“.
This year we also hope that the company’s developer conference will have another great protagonist: artificial intelligence. Over the past few months, we have seen that Google is betting heavily on this segment, with the announcement and launch of Gemini.
The company has already announced in the past that one of its main The ambition for 2024 is to offer very advanced AI. At the developer conference, we hope to learn the next steps the company will take in this matter.
Google is unlikely to offer previews of the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro at I/O 2024, as the company usually introduces its new generation of smartphones in October. However, the company could surprise us with the arrival of the Pixel 8a at the developers conference, in the same way it presented the Pixel 6a at Google I/O 2022.
