Formula 1 represents the pinnacle of motorsport, where the most advanced cars compete and new developments are tested before any other. The technology sector is therefore very involved in this competition, either as a sponsor or by collaborating directly with the teams.

Next weekend, at the United States Grand Prix to be held in Austin, Texas, we will see the result of one of these collaborations, with a new system that can change the sponsors and decoration that appear on the cars. .
Android in Formula 1
Seamless Digital, a digital marketing company that has entered into an agreement with the McLaren team to test a new lightweight display system that can be integrated directly into the Formula 1 chassis. This display can change what it displays during the career span, showing different logos or images.
What’s striking is that this screen is so thin and light (weighing just 190 grams) that it shouldn’t affect vehicle performance too much; and as we have seen, there are already flexible screens that can adapt to various shapes. It would not be surprising if in future Formula 1 has changing scenery, with moving objects or different textures depending on the pilot. It could even be used to show the position the car is going in.
At this time, McLaren will only test this screen in the remaining free practice sessions of the season, and it will not be used in competitive sessions such as qualifying or the race. But this may be the start of something very curious. Two screens will be installed, one on each side of the driver and therefore, they will be in view of the on-board camera that all cars have on top.
And where does Android paint in all of this? Good Android will be one of the sponsors which will appear for the first time on this screen, as the team itself showed in one of the first photos of the system.
This should come as no surprise, as McLaren and Google have entered into a very interesting relationship this year which has seen several logos appear on the car’s livery. Earlier in the year they even toyed with the option of showing lighted wheels in chrome colors, but ended up just painting the caps. Additionally, Chrome and Android logos appeared throughout the season.
