The company continues to expand its investments in the United States.
Earlier this year, it was rumored that Apple was planning to create its own 5G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips in a bid to cut production costs and move away from its Dependence on Qualcomm, after a series of trials and many controversies. Today, the company announced a partnership with Broadcom develop components for technology 5G.
The company headed by Tim Cook announced through a press release on its official website a multi-million dollar investment in Broadcom for component manufacturing in the United States.
All the details of the agreement between Apple and Broadcom
Apple has reached an agreement with Broadcomm indicating that this association is part of an announcement in 2021 in which pledged to invest $430,000 million in the United States economy over a period of 5 years.
“We are excited to build components that encourage the ingenuity, creativity, and innovative spirit of (American) manufacturing. All Apple products are based on technology made here in America, and we will continue to invest in the economy American because we have an unshakeable faith in its future.”
As part of this collaboration, Broadcom will be responsible for providing advanced manufacture and development of 5G radio frequency components, including FBAR filters. The manufacturing of these hardware components for iPhone and other Apple products will be done in Fort Collins, Coloradowhere Broadcom has its own facilities.
In fact, Apple is already supporting the region’s economy with 1,100 jobs at the Broadcom factory in Fort Collins. And, across the United States, the company supports more than 2.7 million workers with direct jobs, developer jobs and more 9,000 suppliers.
For now, it seemed that Apple preferred to focus on developing its 3-nanometer processors for the iPhone and had halted development of its Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips. But with this latest news, it looks like Apple is ready to take the next step.
