When Apple announced the Apple Watch in 2015, no one really knew what it would become. In fact, it went from being just another way of communicating – or at least the ones that seemed to be Apple’s original plans – to a device focused on health in an almost integral way.
However, many years have passed since then. Many models were released during this period, and It makes sense that some have become obsolete over the years. There aren’t many, but Apple has a list of those it has stopped supporting for this reason. We tell you.
Maybe it’s time to find a new one
For Apple, an obsolete product is a product released seven years ago. This is not an absolutely strict rule. Sometimes it’s a little more, and sometimes it’s a little less, but that’s about when. From now on, Apple’s Technical Service is no longer providing support of any kind.Thus, if a device considered as such breaks down, you will have no choice but to go to a third party or “remove” it.
There are currently four Apple Watches officially considered obsolete:
- Apple Watch 1st Generation, 38mm.
- Apple Watch 1st Generation, 42mm.
- Apple Watch Series 2 38mm aluminum.
- Apple Watch Series 2 42mm aluminum.
If you have one and continue to use it daily we recommend that you treat it with special care. Chances are, if your screen breaks, you won’t be able to find anyone to fix it. It’s an extremely complex process unlike the iPhone, so a third party may not be able to do it.
In any case, the term “obsolete” should not be confused with devices that no longer receive updates to the latest versions of an operating system. The latter, unless otherwise specified, they can always contact Apple technical support whatever problem you are having.
This is the case of the Apple Watch Series 3. If you have one, you will not be able to update it, but if your screen breaks, those of Cupertino will be able to change it. Anyway, for the price the replacement would cost, It would almost be better to consider a newer model.
