Apple could prepare a new accessory to launch in the short term. As 9to5mac was able to capture in an Apple support team document (which it quickly removed), The Cupertino company has shared information on a 35W dual USB-C charger. Which suggests that Apple has something in the works about this.
According to the 9to5mac post, Apple’s support page included the following text about the charging adapter’s impending release:
Use the Apple 35W Dual Port USB-C Power Adapter and a USB-C cable (not included) to charge your device. Connect a USB-C cable to one of the AC adapter ports, extend the power plugs (if needed), then plug the AC adapter firmly into the wall outlet. Make sure the plug is easily accessible to unplug it. Connect the other end of the cable to your device.
Although the document was quickly removed by Apple from its website, this could be the company’s first time venturing into the world of dual chargers Type USB-C. In theory, it should be very practical when traveling or at home to be able to charge two devices at the same time with a single socket. Two iPhones, two iPads or by combining them with AirPods.
The charger specifications displayed were as follows:
- Entrance: 100–240V /1.0A
- (PD USB) Output 1 or 2: 5VDC/3A or 9VDC/3A or 15VDC/2.33A or 20VDC/1.75A
35W output means two devices can be charged at the same time and one of them, for example iPhone, with fast chargingbeing a very complete accessory for users who need this supplement in their daily batteries in an agile way.
This product could also work in Apple’s favor as other more expensive accessories did not sell or perform as expected and users opted for technologically advanced third-party alternatives. Such a product could help Apple regain market share in charging accessories.
We don’t know when this dual charger will go on sale, what we are sure is that it is a great bet from Apple and an accessory whose functionality is very wide and that, without a doubt, many users expect to use on a daily basis.
