In my case I have this 29W charger model since it came with the nice and light 12 inch MacBook that I have and now Apple officially confirms in an internal document its incompatibility with the MagSafe Duo charging base.

This 29W charger isn’t the only bad news for those who bought it and can’t use it, the Cupertino company also points out that this beautiful charging base (which does not come with a wall charger ) it will eventually crumple in the central part over time or with prolonged exposure in hot environments.

But let’s go back to the beginning and focus our attention on the AC adapter which Apple says is not compatible with this dual charging base. The reason is that the 29W adapter which was discontinued in 2018 changing the power of the 30W one, does not support required power ratings of 5V / 3A or 9V / 1.67A that are used in this MagSafe Duo. So if you are one of those people who have this power adapter, you should know that it won’t help you charge your iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch in it.

In addition to the incompatible AC adapter issue, we encountered another issue that would affect the product over time. The materials this dual charging base is made of are very good but with the passage of time or prolonged exposure to hot environments with the base closed it could affect the central part of it just where the closing hinges are and the outer part will end up wrinkling more noticeably.

It is a problem of wear in principle, so we won’t see it for a few months but surely there will be complaints about it when the time comes even if we are warned and it is something normal after a period of use … We will see what happens past.
