“Touch ID is more convenient on a laptop since your hands are already on the keyboard. “
This simply rule out an early possibility that Apple can add this feature. And while the idea isn’t completely dismissed by Boger’s comments, the reality is that it gives no indication of being in the plans.
To justify the absence of a touchscreen computer, Jean Ternus, senior vice president of hardware engineering at Apple He was frank in his response by evoking the firm idea of having the iPad as the main device for this functionality, by keeping the Macs in “indirect input” and thus leaving all the tactile novelties reserved for the iPad.
“We make the world’s best touchscreen computer on an iPad. It is fully optimized for this. And the Mac is fully optimized for indirect input. We didn’t really feel a reason to change that. “
At this time, Apple has no plans to launch a Mac with FaceID.
During the interview, they raised the possibility of a waterproof Mac, which was out of the question for executives.
