In the same igamesnews.comments, we’ve heard it more than once: “I’m not going to update to iOS 14 because overall for what it brings I’m already doing well with iOS. 13 “. Big mistake. Updates to various operating systems, recently macOS 11.5 and iPadOS 14.7 and also iOS 14.7, not only bring visible news, most of it is invisible, and many focus on safety
37 vulnerabilities to protect our data
In virtually all updates to the various operating systems, Apple fixes the vulnerabilities. Vulnerabilities which, although generally not a direct and imminent threat, allow the creation of tools like Pegasus, which has been used to spy on more than 50,000 people around the world.
These vulnerabilities sometimes take the form of curious errors, such as having an iPhone’s Wi-Fi completely disabled after connecting to a network with a certain name. An error which, moreover, turned out to be more serious than initially thought, since it also allowed the execution of code in certain circumstances. An error which, as expected, fixes in iOS 14.7
Apple regularly publishes the list of security updates that apply to different systems. In the case of iOS and iPadOS 14.7, the amount of vulnerabilities resolved amount to 37 and they range from operating system audio, to managing sources through WebKit.
These security updates are so important that Apple continues to release them for older systems. This time, the updates received by macOS Catalina and macOS Mojave resolve more than 20 vulnerabilities.
As we’ve said many times, and we’ll say it again here, updates aren’t just about adding certain features. They’re not just for adding new emoji. They are used to fix bugs, polish errors and close vulnerabilities, and also, they contain improvements that, personally, we may or may not find interesting. Having said that, we can only recommend updating all of our devices on time.
