Apple Glasses have been advertised for years, from the little leaks to the smallest details. Now rumors claim that during WWDC to be held in June, Apple will introduce what we call Reality Pro for now.
It has long been known that Apple is working on two devices. The Reality Pro, which is a virtual reality headset, and Apple Glasses. A less intrusive augmented reality device that looks like a normal-looking pair of glasses.
Apple Glasses should be a device capable of overlaying content on augmented reality like directions and notifications from Apple. However, its release is likely still years away and a Xiaomi product might hold the answer.
Apple Glasses could be years away from release
Rumors claim that the reason why Apple decided to postpone the Apple Glasses project indefinitely was due to technical difficulties. GOOD, they have not yet succeeded in adapting all the technology of an augmented reality headset to the shape of traditional glasses.
In principle, the launch of Apple Glasses was planned for this year, when the company decided to move it to 2025, then postponed it indefinitely. And it is that it is said that this product is currently Apple’s most ambitious project, since they consider that one day they could replace the iPhone.
Xiaomi Wireless AR glasses cause delay
Apple isn’t the only one working on augmented reality glasses. The Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi is also on board and has already given a first glimpse of its progress.
It is a prototype that bears the name Xiaomi Wireless AR Smart Glass Explorer Edition, the first wireless augmented reality glasses from the Chinese giant. They feature a pair of retina-adaptive displays that adapt to surrounding lighting, capable of producing images at up to 1200 nits of brightness. Additionally, it has 3 front cameras that map the environment in front of the user.
As you can see from the photos, It’s not hard to guess why Apple still doesn’t feel ready to launch a device like this.. First of all, they don’t look like traditional sunglasses at all. Looks like glasses straight out of an 80s sci-fi movie.
Secondly, there is the battery life detail, which is only enough for 30 minutes. As if that were not enough, they become opaque while watching television. These details make Apple doesn’t feel ready to enter the smart glasses market just yet, so don’t expect them anytime soon.
