Apple’s slowing pace of corporate acquisitions has become evident in recent months, but that doesn’t mean the company isn’t making the deal. He recently became known an agreement with Futuro Studiosa podcast production company, to be able to publish exclusive content in this format and have rights to something very important in the long term.
It’s not just original content: it’s cheap content
It was Bloomberg who reported the news: Apple will put money to produce podcasts and in exchange Futuro Studios will grant it the right to be the first company to be able to turn one of these podcasts into a series or movie format. Naturally, to launch it exclusively on Apple TV+, more would be missing.
With this, Apple demonstrates its faith in podcasts as a source of ideas and scripts for its Apple TV+ catalog. The source adds that from Cupertino they would already be talking to other studios to have similar deals, racking up original content rights now that the market has become saturated with prequels and sequels.
Apparently, the negotiations to buy these rights can go up to 10 million dollars depending on the studios, but in relative terms, it is much less money than having to acquire the rights to a successful franchise. Recall that holding MGM films (including the James Bond saga) cost Amazon $8.5 billion.
