The iPad is certainly one of Apple’s flagship products. It’s the perfect companion for Mac and iPhone, but it also works great on its own. We can use it as a computer, as a drawing studio, for video or audio editing thanks to the new Final Cut and Logic Pro applications, and much more.
Obviously, what most attracts the attention of these devices is their screen. This is what you always see when you use it, and no matter the model, it’s very good. From the Retina display of the iPad 10 to the Liquid Retina XDR of the 12.9″ iPad Pro with M2 chip, they all do their job very well. Yet a new rumor suggests that Apple could go further and introduce new technology next year
Pure black is coming to iPad Pro in 2024
According to information from the Korean media The Elec, very close to the production lines of countless companies -including Apple-, those of Cupertino would have ordered the manufacture of 11-inch and 12.9-inch OLED displays in the first quarter of 2024. They would be assembled in the new iPad Pro with the M3 chip that will be released the same year, and the change would benefit both models, although the one that gains the most is the 11-inch one.
With the current iPad Pro, we still have two sizes available, although the Liquid Retina XDR is only available in a 12.9-inch version. It’s based on Mini-LED technology, which, while a great replacement for OLED, doesn’t come close to its level of precision. The 11-inch model has a standard LCD screen, so this change would be a very powerful qualitative change, although it is likely to accompany the price, since its production cost would increase considerably.
This is not the first time that such a rumor has been rumored. Ross Young, who is the best in all things screen-related, already did it a year ago. It’s good that there are several leaks with good track records that say the same thing, because that means it’s more likely to happen. Anyway, This is in no way an official announcement from Apple., so nothing can be taken for granted. It’s a very believable rumor, yes, but a rumor nonetheless.
