The traditional iMac would not be renewed with the M2, but it would be the first computer equipped with the M2 chip.
Apple is testing several Macs with an M2 chip set to launch later this year, in addition to the fact that their presentation could take place at WWDC 2022 in June. But the company is already thinking about what the novelties would be for next year, among them andl New M3 chip.
It’s too early to know the specifications of the M3 chip, while the real power of the M2 is barely discovered, but according to some leaks would come out next year and help renew a Mac
The iMac with M3 would be the computer that launches the new chip
In Power On, Mark Gurman mentioned that Apple was working on the M3 chip, which would be the new processing for 2023. Although there was no progress on the actuality of this chip, the Bloomberg reporter mentioned it would be released on the iMac firstbefore in other computers.
I’ve since heard that the M2 chips aren’t the only ones being tested at Apple. And if you’ve been waiting for a new iMac, I hear an M3 version of that desktop is already in the works, though I imagine it won’t be released until late next year at the earliest. Also, for those asking, I still think an iMac Pro is coming. It just won’t be anytime soon.
Gurman has all but confirmed the biggest iMac leak: This year, the iMac Pro with Chip M2 might be released, leaving the renewal of the traditional iMac for the following year
On top of everything, Gurman also mentioned the line of Mac computers that would be released in the second half of 2022:
- MacBook Air, base MacBook Pro and Mac Mini with M2 chip.
- Macbook Pro 14 inch and 16 inch with M2 pro and M2 max chip.
- Mac Pro with dual M2 ultra chip.
The iMac is very important in the Mac ecosystem, so Apple would consider releasing a more advanced versionalthough the current models do not have a short term renewal.
