Apple aims to revolutionize the iPhone and iPad accessory market.
Apple is looking for new ways to attach accessories to its mobile devices, especially the iPhone and iPad. The company offers several variations of iPhone cases and even iPad keyboard cases. But now Apple filed a new patent it could completely change the way we use these blankets.
From Apple Insider, they report that Apple has filed a new patent titled “Peripheral cover for an electronic device”
Apple might be working on a totally different case for iPhone and iPad
The images attached to the patent show us a device very similar to an iPad surrounded by a curious case that would be attached to the tablet on one side only. This coupling would allow the device to rotate and even have a small prong sticking out like an iPad stand in the bottom area to hold the tablet upright.
This type of cover is very reminiscent of these types of covers bumper or “bumpers” which mainly prevent bumps and scratches on the corners of iPad and iPhone. But with a little twist, and that’s Apple’s patent case could be segment be able to hold the tablet in different positions.
According to the description of the patent filed by Apple, the case could house enough space to protect other components such as a battery or an Apple Pencil. But maybe it could also contain other hardware like a camera. In such a case, Apple should accommodate the design of its future iPads for the use of this type of case.
In any case, the fact that Apple filed a new patent does not necessarily imply that the company imagined carrying out these plans. Perhaps these types of covers will never see the light of day, but the patent filing indicates that Apple considered the possibility of designing covers of this type. What do you think of these covers? Think they’re too fancy for an iPhone or iPad?
