Apple and Samsung continue their race to find out which company dominates the mobile market, although demand has fallen more than expected.

Counterpoint Research revealed that Samsung and Apple are at the forefront of mobile sales in the European zone. They managed to hold on despite demand for new mobiles fell by 12%.
The European smartphone market is down 12% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2022, according to the latest research from Counterpoint Research’s Market Monitor service, posting the weakest first-quarter shipments in nearly a decade. The drop was caused by a number of factors, including ongoing component shortages, COVID-19 related lockdowns in China, deteriorating economic conditions and the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Xiaomi ranks third with a 14% market share, but with the largest decline among all companies: -36%. It completes the list of OPPO and Realme, the latter was the company that achieved exponential growth in sales, of 67%.
Counterpoint Research mentioned that it is possible that in the 2nd quarter of the year there will also be falls in global mobile market sales. Apple, in its case, is planning drops until the launch of the iPhone 14 during the month of September.
