Today, Thursday, a new new AirTag firmware version. As usual in the company, we have no information on what’s new with this update. With AirTags, every update is a mystery.
And another “mysterious” question is how the update will be carried out. in a staggered manner. it starts today for select units and will end on May 13, with 100% of devices updated. So don’t worry, and your AirTags will fall off every time…
Just a few hours ago, Apple released a new firmware update for its AirTag. So in the next few days we will upgrade from the current version 1.0.291 to the new 1.0.301
As usual with Apple tracker updates, those in Cupertino don’t usually let us know what news they include in their usual update notes, as is the case with most Apple devices. ‘business. So one more time we will remain without knowing what improvements it incorporates this new version.
And this time, the update will be done gradually for all devices on the planet. AppleSW Updates points in your account Twitter
This means that if your trackers are already on version 1.0.301, they are already running the latest software from Apple. If not, don’t despair by May 13th you should already have them up to date.
Sometimes Apple uses this device update system in a staggered manner. It does not do this, even less so as not to saturate its servers, since the size of the AirTags firmware is derisory if we compare it to the usual updates of an iPhone or an iPad, and we are no longer talking about a Mac.
With this way of gradual update, Apple can react quickly and push a problematic update before it reaches all readers. We will therefore be patient, and wait a few days to see if our trackers have been updated.
How to check if our AirTag has been updated
In the same way as it happens with the AirPods, Apple does not allow you to “force” update your device. Keep it close to your iPhone and wait for the update to happen automatically.
What you can do is see if he has already, in a very simple way. Open the Find My app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Choose the “Objects” tab. Select the Airtag of which you want to see more details. Tap the battery icon under the AirTag name and the serial number and firmware version will be displayed. That said, you will see the new firmware 1.0.301 before May 13th.
