For the lucky few who own this new Apple Vision Pro virtual headset, you have probably been annoyed by the fact that if you forget your Apple Vision Pro password, you will have to take it to an Apple Store to reset it. With no USB data port to force recovery mode and no software solution, if you were stuck out of your Vision Pro for the first two weeks, there wasn’t much you could do.
Today, Apple released visionOS 1.0.3 with a fix for this issue. The update doesn’t include any security fixes and Apple’s release notes are spartan:
This update provides important bug fixes and adds an option to reset your device if you have forgotten your password.
If you enter the wrong password multiple times, you will be locked out, but now you will have the option to reset your device.
Activation Lock will still be enabled, so while you go through the setup process again, you will only be able to set up your Apple Vision Pro with the same Apple ID you already had on it.
How to update your Apple Vision Pro
You update your visionOS software the same way as most Apple devices.
- Open Settings.
- Select General
- Select Software update
The latest software update will be displayed, along with the options to download and install it. If you don’t see it, you can drag the menu down to refresh it.
