The Apple Vision Pro finally went on sale this past weekend, and customers who ordered early should receive the headset by February 2. However, shipping times have now passed this date, indicating that the company has exhausted its initial stock.
Although it appears to be a success, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes the Vision Pro didn’t sell quickly enough. While he estimates that Apple sold between 160,000 and 180,000 Vision Pro units, “delivery times remained unchanged 48 hours after pre-orders opened,” Kuo said in his analysis of last weekend’s sales . “This indicates that demand could quickly decline once core fans and heavy users place their orders.”
In other words, it didn’t sell like an iPhone. “Popular iPhone models also sell out immediately after pre-ordering, and delivery times usually increase to several weeks within hours,” Kuo said. However, Kuo believes Apple is close to selling 500,000 units. After all, he writes, Apple has a “massive user base of more than 1.2 billion active users.” As long as around 0.007% of users are willing to purchase after pre-order, Vision Pro can sell out after pre-order opens. However, this makes the Vision Pro “a very specialized product”.
But this “highly specialized product” is in enough demand that Apple’s supply chain partners, such as Luxeshare in China, are working overtime during the Lunar New Year celebrations, which begin February 10. Chinese businesses typically close their doors during the Lunar New Year, often for a limited time. week or two, this is similar to the December holidays observed in Western countries.
