The new Apple TV 4K will officially launch tomorrow morning, alongside the new iMac 2021 and the new iPad Pro 2021; and it will be the first model to wear the redesigned Siri remote after being showcased at the last conference. Tim Twerdahl, your managing director, underlined its value in a recent interview on CNN
This interview also allowed Twerdahl to point out something that confirms the open secret: Apple did not plan this Apple TV 4K to compete with home consoles. In other words, they don’t consider it logical to compare it to the PlayStation 5 or the Xbox Series X.
Emphasis remains on casual games
This may seem like a no-brainer to many, but it’s interesting that Apple is saying it so clearly. This means that the company has no intention of trying to turn Apple TV into a powerful gaming hub
Here are the words Twerdahl used to refer to the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X:
“[Las consolas] they bring what I think is something unique to the market, something unique and very good for hardcore gamers “
Therefore, Apple continues to view the Apple TV 4K as a media center that can be used as casual game console. Time will tell if this rumor about a more professional hybrid console will make more sense or be forgotten.
