iOS 18’s maximum rival is here and comes with a feature I want to see on the iPhone
Google has already launched Android 15 as a fairly continuous system in terms of. design but with some interesting new features. A strategy quite similar to the one that Apple followed with iOS 18, although it is true that the customization of iOS 18 can change the operating system a little. However, there exists an Android 15 feature that I loved and that I think Apple should implement it on the iPhone soon.
iOS and Android are already very mature operating systems that are introducing improvements and new features quite gradually. Over time it’s normal for things to be copied between them, in fact Android 15 copied an iOS feature that has been available for some time. But from now on, it is Apple which should copy this interesting novelty.
Android 15 arrives with something new that I want to see on iPhone
for years Apple fought against the theft of its devices by implementing significant measures on the iPhone. We can locate our iPhone whenever we want from the Search app, even if it is turned off or without coverage. We can lock it remotely and render it useless. Even Apple locks stolen iPhone parts so that they cannot be used and added the device theft protection feature.
All these measures aim to prevent someone from using our stolen iPhone. And they all work great. but in Android 15 Google has included a new feature that I find really interesting: the Theft detection lock
Basically, this feature blocks the device when it detects that it has been stolen and you try to escape, whether by running, cycling, or driving. When the device detects it, it will automatically lockforcing the thief to guess the password in order to use it.
The new theft detection lock uses AI to help protect your data. If your phone detects that someone has stolen it and tries to escape, whether by running, cycling or driving, it will automatically lock your device. You can also use Remote Lock to quickly lock your phone from any device using your phone number and a simple security check. These features are now available for most Android 10 and newer devices.
I think this is a fantastic feature. will surely help reduce theft. If thieves can’t do anything with the device, they will usually lose interest in stealing it. This feature, along with all the ones Apple already has, would be very interesting to see on the iPhone.
I don’t think this is too difficult a feature to implement and Hopefully we’ll see it in a future iOS update. Additionally, I think this is something that could also be implemented on other Apple devices such as the iPad, Apple Watch or MacBook. This type of additional protection would be welcomed by all users.
