Apple wants its future iPhone to be underwater

Apple, future, iPhone, underwater

IPhone in the water

Let's put ourselves in a normal state of life or death. Imagine that you are traveling on a beach and your ship is crashing into high tide and is sinking. There is only you and your iPhone. No life jacket. Your iPhone is your only destination.

Let's imagine you turn on the phone screen (yes, we know you can use the SOS emergency service) to try to send a message asking for help. But your iPhone screen is too wet to respond to your touch; popping up alert alerts, pressing a button and then another tag, trying to type on the keyboard but the messages are ridiculous …

In these cases each moment is important, and you become faint and powerless … what is the sadness, right? But luckily Apple helps. And it's that the company with the apple logo says that their iPhones are not only waterproof, but they can also work underwater without a problem.

Apple is a patent file to use the iPhone underwater

Apple has filed a new permit (# 20200104021) with the United States Patent and Trademark Office known as the United States "Underwater User Equipment". As we were expecting at the launch of the news, the patent refers to a series of commands in which the signature of a bite logo can amplify a smartphone that acts like an underwater charm.

It looks like Apple and Apple's iPad, even its Mac, haven't changed its user interface over the years. But the fact is that Apple software developers update every feature every year. The company's devices are pretty accurate in terms of water resistance hardware, and we've seen many cases where the tool went underwater for a long time and is still in operation.

What is a patent

The patent "Underwater User Interface" describes how one can use a telephone under water, simply simple controls user interface. According to Apple, current methods of displaying a user interface where an electronic device is underwater are "outdated, ineffective and time-consuming."

Other methods use a complex and time-consuming user environment, including many on-screen taps and highly detectable functions. In short, these methods take longer than necessary, causing us to waste energy (battery). Apple wants to stretch all this.

"There is a need for electronic devices to provide convenient channels and user interfaces for accessing objects displayed on an underwater electrical device."

These new techniques will reduce time and improve productivity. Also, it would reduce energy waste processing and battery.

How does this new approach work?

The patent (via Apple Insider) details technical instructions in a complex language, but basically refers to a device that incorporates one or more of the generic products. That is, a touch output generator such as a touch screen (sensitive touch) and optional generator that can work when moving the touch area vertically or laterally.

What does all of this mean? We're talking about a device it can modify your user interface as soon as we are under water. This new user mode will show simple buttons and will disable some functions.

This launch is witnessed by more than 16 Apple employees. That includes Richard J. Blanco, an employee working on a related patent called “Sealed Electronic Connectors for Electronic Devices”. Xuefeng Wang, another Apple employee on the list, also worked on a patent that provides a way for devices to determine how high the pressure is to notify the user.

What do you think about this curious patent recently registered by Apple? Do you think they will use this feature on their iPhone in the not-too-distant future?
