Apple plans to launch inexpensive AirPods at the end of 2024, a sort of “AirPods SE” or “AirPods Lite”
A new report from Senior Analyst Jeff Pu assures Apple will launch new low-cost AirPods in late 2024. This type of “AirPods SE” or “AirPods Lite” is intended to replace the current AirPods 2, a device released on the market in 2019 and which is maintained in the Apple catalog as an alternative to the earphone range the company.
In the report, Jeff Pu explains that production of AirPods will increase later this year. “thanks to the launch of a low-cost model.” It doesn’t offer any specific details on what to expect from these low-cost AirPods or an approximate price, simply referring to them as “AirPods Lite.” The analyst also reports that some new AirPods Max They will arrive at the end of this year.
What to expect from “AirPods SE” or “AirPods Lite”
Even though Jeff Pu calls them “AirPods Lite,” that’s not necessarily the final name Apple uses. Plus, it’s a very different name from those used by Apple, so It is very unlikely that this is the name chosen. I would have a lot It makes more sense to call them “AirPods SE”like Apple does with the cheaper iPhone and Apple Watch line.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumors about low-cost AirPods. Ming-Chi Kuo, another renowned Apple analyst, said some time ago that this model would sell for $99. cheaper than AirPods 2.
The famous Mark Gurman also talked about affordable AirPods in several reports. However, he assures that Apple is working on two models of AirPods 4, some with more advanced functions to replace AirPods 3 and others simpler and cheaper to replace AirPods 2. This latest affordable AirPods 4 model is likely the “AirPods Lite” that Pu and Kuo are referring to.
Probably, all these analysts are talking about the same product, which Apple could call very different things. It would seem strange to me if Apple called its cheap AirPods AirPods 4, that would be something that could confuse consumers. Something that wouldn’t happen with a name like “AirPods SE”, which we are all used to. Although it will be the marketing managers of the Apple company who will take care of this.
