Tang Tan had strict control over the design features of each product.
Apple could radically change the direction of its design plans for some of its products after the departure of Tang Yew Tan, who served as Apple’s vice president of product design for more than 10 years. As was announced a few weeks ago, Tang Tan will leave Apple and his functions will join those of Richard Dinh and Kate Bergeron.
If you like the design of Apple electronic devices, you must like this guy. Tang Tan led Apple’s design teams and worked to create the latest generations of iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods.
Tang Tan will now work with Jony Ive at LoveFrom, who also left Apple in 2019 after 30 years with the company.
Tang Yew Tan will meet up with Jony Ive to work on an… artificial intelligence project?
The news came from Bloomberg. Tang Tan leaves Apple. He will begin working with Jony Ive in LoveFrom. And rumors say that they will do it in collaboration with Sam Altman, creator of OpenAI, who in turn was a great admirer of Steve Jobs since his early childhood.
It seems, Jony Ive and Sam Altman negotiated in a partnership for the “development of a hardware project linked to artificial intelligence” which will integrate OpenAI technology.
Tang Tan, who has remained Apple’s vice president of product design since February, will be responsible for lead hardware engineering at LoveFrom.
“Apple executive Tang Tan will join Jony Ive’s LoveFrom design firm, which will shape the look and capabilities of new products, according to people familiar with the matter.”
Since Jony Ive left Apple to found his design company LoveFrom, more than 20 former Apple employees came to work alongside him.
Tang Yew Tan was born in Malaysia and studied at La Salle Klang, Raffles Institute, Imperial College London and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has worked for Apple for a decade designing iPhones, Apple Watches and AirPods. as well as in numerous patents. After his departure, we could see a radical change in the design of the company’s hardware products.
