You may have fallen into this common mistake: you copy something (text, an image) to the clipboard, and before you paste it where you need it, you end up copying something else. And of course, the clipboard is not infinite: when you copy something, what was there before is lost. This is something more than one will have done unconsciously.
If you are one of those who often make this mistake, there are applications that solve this precisely by adding “more boxes” to the clipboard. In a way, this transforms it from a drawer to an entire shelf that you can refer to whenever you want.
Copy, copy and copy without losing when pasting
The most comprehensive application capable of doing this is called Dough, and it’s one of those little ideas that you wonder how anyone could have come up with before. What it does is introduce its own clipboard into the app, which you can access through the iOS Share menu. The integration is total and synchronizes all data via iCloud.
Here you can see how we have the system’s standard “Copy” option alongside Paste, which offers to add it to what it calls “clipboard history”:
Not only that, but Paste also offers a native iOS keyboard from which you can manage that clipboard without having to switch between apps:
The beauty of this is that the only limit is your iCloud storage: you can use this extended clipboard as a storage and reference tool.
You can download Paste for free from the App Store and use the service with full functionality for two weeks. Of course, for this you have to activate a trial period, which after a while will start charging you for the subscription of 14.99 dollars per year if you don’t unsubscribe first. Positive point: the application itself offers to notify you so that you decide whether or not to unsubscribe in time.
If you are looking for an alternative, you can also consider Notice. Made by Tapbots (the creators of the recent Ivory), the app is available for macOS but not for iPhone. In return, there is an advantage: you have a one-time payment of $12.99. Other similar alternatives are Pasta (also only for macOS) or PasteNow.
