In 2021, the most senior Intel Head of Diversity and Inclusion, Barbara Whye, will be part of Apple’s staff. In this sense, the news came directly from the offices of the Cupertino company.
The AppleInsider media collects the news of this new Apple signature which if all goes according to plan, he will take over as Christie Smith, who left the apple business last summer specifically in June. Smith, did not last long in this Apple position signed in 2017 to replace Denise Young and recently left the position.
An Apple spokesperson was responsible for officially announcing Whye’s arrival at the post:
An engineer by training and a globally recognized leader in advocacy issues in the technology industry, Barbara spent 25 years at Intel, helping the company make meaningful and lasting positive change. Now, she will bring her immense talent and deep experience to Apple, expanding our company-wide efforts to recruit, develop and retain world-class talent, at all levels, who reflect the communities we serve.
That’s really a lot of changes for a position that doesn’t seem to appeal to executives for a variety of reasons. Hope Whye is a good fit for the job and Apple manages to consolidate the place with someone who doesn’t give up or get into controversy.
On the other hand, what looks like the Cupertino company is improving is the hiring of female executives for managerial positions in the company and in recent years the numbers show it. The charge at Apple that Whye will have to do is close to Senior Vice President of Stores and People, this time Deirdre O’Brien.
