People no longer like these emojis which could stop being used in the coming months
A recent study by BecexTech, an Australian technology store, has identified emojis that could become obsolete in 2025taking into account evolving trends in digital communication. Thanks to a “sentiment analysis” of content generated by users of the social network
Emojis, essential for expressing emotions digitally, can change meaning depending on the context. However, some are being abandoned as younger generations reinterpret or reject their use. The study highlights the influence of social platforms and cultural dynamics on the acceptance or rejection of these visual elements that we use in our daily communication.
It's interesting to see the impact of using emojis on how we communicate our intentions and expressions in the digital space.
These emojis aren't what they used to be
Although some sentences are also analyzed, as they are in English, I think they emoji analysis is much more relevant for us. I'm sure you've used more than one of these emoji over the past few weeks, but maybe in 2025 they'll be phased out:
- angry face (😡): Users seem to feel that this emoji has been overused, representing an exaggerated reaction to minor inconveniences rather than its original meaning of anger. The study identifies this emoji as the most likely to disappear by 2025, achieving the highest extinction score, with a 34.
- skull emoji (💀): an emoji often used in funny grapes, also condemned to extinction. It is the second emoji on the list with a score of 30.1.
- Beggar Emoji (🥺): Users say this emoji is often an overused method of getting attention, which is why it has a score of 28.4.
- Thinking face emoji (🤔) – This emoji is perceived by users to have lost its association with deep thought due to excessive popularity. He has a score of 26.2.
- snake emoji (🐍): It seems that this emoji is considered a “basic” and overused expression of trickery or lack of confidence, closing the list with a score of 26.
The study attempts to reflect how quickly digital trends can change and how certain elements of visual communication, such as emojis, are likely to fall out of use or acquire negative connotations, very different from their original meaning. Although none of these emojis are deleted like the others.
Therefore, these emoji may lose popularity over the next year. And this taking into account that during the year 2025, new and very interesting emojis will be launched, which could become very popular. THE emojis have become a language in their own righthaving official meanings and double meanings that people attribute to them. And this can lead to disuse for many people.
