The one who falls with Twitter. We don’t have to tell the whole story, but we can remember the wave of layoffs, something Steve Jobs never laughed at, commenting that Phil Shiller closed his account and Tim Cook reminding us how moderate content in apps that are in the App Store. And there’s more, because as many companies withdraw their advertising investment on the social network run by Elon Musk, it seems that raised a rather unusual idea a few years agoone that has to do with Apple.
It was the year 2016 when there was an alleged call between Elon Musk and Tim Cook over the possibility of Apple buying Tesla. It was a time when the South African tycoon’s business was going through a tough time and there was an offer to buy from a company that we believe is currently developing the Apple Car. This is stated in the book “Power Play: Tesla, Elon Musk and the bet of the century”, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.
What would have happened if…?
The book shows the alleged proposal with which Elon Musk approached the head of Apple. A proposal which, still according to the text, was not well received by Tim Cook, who abruptly ended the conversation:
“Apple CEO Tim Cook and Tesla CEO Elon Musk are on the phone. The 2016 unveiling of the groundbreaking Model 3 is coming soon, but Tesla is in serious financial trouble. Cook has an idea: Apple is buying Tesla .”
“Musk is interested, but on one condition: I will be the CEO.”
“Of course, says Cook. When Apple bought Beats in 2014, they kept the founders, Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre. [al cargo de la división]”.
“No, dice Musk. Apple. CEO of Apple”.
Fuck you, Cook says and hangs up.
After the story and the book were published, Musk claimed he never spoke to Tim Cook. In one Tweet of July 30, 2021
We’ll probably never know exactly what happened, though what’s clear is that Tesla intended to be acquired by Apple. Now, with the perspective that the passage of time brings and seeing the situation that Twitter is going through, We can only imagine what might have happened if the sale had taken place..
