Samsung recently presented its new family of more premium smartphones: the Galaxy S24 Ultra and the Galaxy S24 and S24+. And beyond its new processors and subtle but interesting changes in its design (like a completely flat screen), the company has placed a lot of emphasis on the big novelty that debuts with its new mobile phones: the Galaxy HAVE.
It is artificial intelligence which can perform tasks such as real-time translation of voice calls, advanced photo editing (including AI background generation), and automatic transcription of voice recordings, among others. But after the event ended, many of us were left wondering: Where is Bixby, Samsung’s voice assistant?
A better Bixby thanks to Samsung’s new artificial intelligence
And Bixby is increasingly losing importance on Samsung devices, even though the assistant is still present on cell phones, smartwatches and TVs. Before Galaxy AI arrived, many of us feared that Bixby would suffer the same fate as Google Assistantwho will be replaced by Bard, but it won’t be like that… at least for now.
Assistant will cease to exist and will be replaced by Google Bard. Microsoft Cortana also makes history, replaced by Copilot. Does the same future await Bixby? The answer is no; In fact, Bixby somehow becomes a part of Galaxy AI.
During a question and answer session after the presentation of the Galaxy S24, Samsung confirmed that Bixby will continue to be active and working on new phones, reports Android Authority. In fact, the company assures that Bixby will continue to develop its features and that the assistant is now considered a feature that is part of Galaxy AI. Previously, Samsung had already mentioned that artificial intelligence would be an important element for the evolution of Bixby and SmartThings.
Currently, one of the main uses of Bixby is for automation; The company even enhanced its capabilities a few years ago with Good Lock’s Routines+ module. Little by little, Samsung is refining the uses of Bixby, even if the assistant is clearly no longer one of the central pillars of each new mobile announcement from the company.
NOW, With Galaxy AI, Bixby has a new life, at least for now. The assistant could take a big step forward thanks to Bard and ChatGPT technologies. We know that Samsung works closely with Google for many of its features, including some artificial intelligence, it remains to be seen, over time, how this joint work will help boost Bixby.
