And while BMW itself has been forced to do without Android Auto in some of its models due to lack of chips, it now seems determined to implement its own system based on Android Automotive. In other words, instead of using Linux, moved to a dedicated operating system for Google cars.

BMW sees more clearly
that car manufacturers think about it a lot when you take the plunge to Android Automotive is due to many factors, but giving the big G permission to access invaluable data on customer behavior who buy their cars, is one of them.
Logically, we can understand that here in Europe we see few models with Android Automotive, although the Renault Mégane E-TECH is one of them. For us to understand each other, Android Automotive is already a system that is part of the car, so it is connected to all the systems that control lights, cooling, mechanics and more.
But now, and via Xataka, we know that BMW will be rolling out its own Android Automotive-based system. Will be from March 2023 when BMW brings Android Automotive to a series of models; which confirms the reluctance of the big names in the automotive industry (who only allow them to defend their own parcel and their large area of activity).
The important thing about this proprietary system is that we will no longer need to use the mobile to connect to Androidas is the case with Android Auto and it is usually a small handicap each time we start the engine to get to our destination.
Now we will have to know the implementation carried out and what it will entail, so we remain in front of the given expectation of being able to use this OS in some of the BMWs that will be marketed in 2023 to drive on the streets and highways.
