It’s time for the most impactful speech Apple will make all year: WWDC, when the company will reveal the new direction it’s taking its devices. So if you’re as excited as we are, you’ll be keeping up with all the latest news and rumors before the speech begins at 10 a.m. PT. Well look no further, we have everything you need right here.
WWDC 2024: latest news
Dark mode icons: According to MacRumors, iOS 18 will bring dark mode to the Home screen icons to make the iPhone look completely dark. Apple is rumored to allow users to change the color of app icons using AI. So this is probably an extension of this feature.
Locked apps: Another report from MacRumors claims that Apple will allow users to lock apps behind Face ID, similar to how Notes, Photos, and Safari allow users to enable authentication for certain content and features. (Note that some third-party apps like WhatsApp already let you do this.)
Siri with AI: AppleInsider presents all the new features that Siri will be able to achieve thanks to AI, which will be called Apple Intelligence. The report states that Apple “wants to accustom its AI to natural language, speech patterns, sentence structures, and instruction types.”
AirPods hearing test: According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple will announce a new “hearing test” feature for AirPods that will presumably emit a series of beeps to test your ability to detect certain frequencies.
