The Apple Vision Pro will replace one or more current Apple devices, what could they be?
Those from Cupertino have launched a product that seems ahead of its time. Apple Vision Pro is a spatial computer that makes us see technology with different eyes today. Who would have thought that with our precise vision we could select items on a screen? These times so marked by mobile devices make us think that in the future it will be differentthat the Apple Vision Pro will be one of the best or the best in its category and that products that are part of our current technological life will likely be replaced by another all-in-one device. Would you use Apple Vision Pro instead of an iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV? We analyze it below
iPhone is Apple’s flagship device, difficult to remove easily
In 2007, a time when cell phones were aesthetically boring and marked by a physical keyboard, some others by digital buttons, the iPhone came to shake up the technological world. Steve Jobs had a clear postulate and it is more alive today than ever.. A single device to perform three specific tasks: listening to music like iPod, a phone and communicating via the Internet, whether through emails or web pages.
Can Apple Glasses replace the iPhone? Doesn’t have a phone app, only FaceTime at the moment. Also must include mobile connectivity such as 5G (maybe in the future we will be more advanced). The battery totally condemns it. You can’t have a device just to use it for about 2 hours. The design should be more interactive, that is, it does not isolate you from others. Maybe with software you can see those around you but the field of vision is too small.
Let us also remember that Apple Vision Pro is in its early stages. The visionOS operating system is growing, it doesn’t have all the apps and it shouldn’t have them either because the 2007 iPhone didn’t have them either. It will be difficult to replace a device that is currently trendy and continues to be criticized for its own functionality. Apple Glasses has a lot to break, starting with the barriers that exist, especially with simple street use.without others seeing you badly for using them.
Maybe they could remove the Mac since it’s a different type of computer
This goal could be one of the simplest although it is a bit far. We return to the subject of applications. If the iPad with iPadOS has been criticized (we will come back to this in depth in the next point) in terms of professional applications on an iPad Pro equipped with an M series chip, the Apple Vision Pro will be much more criticized.
There are many computers of different brands and operating systems, perhaps a point that would apply to the iPhone but is also different in essence, Apple Vision Pro would be a supercomputer. From the simple fact that a Mac can have the largest screen thanks to the glasses, having an entire computer controlled via a keyboard and mouse or trackpad makes using Vision Pro for work viable.
The visionOS virtual keyboard is a major obstacle. It’s difficult to type on a keyboard that looks like an iPhone but in a giant version. You will need to find a way for users to type on this keyboard without putting in too much effort.. Siri could take it over, but the very essence of the computer will be lost. Not everything can be done with voice. Just like the iPhone was once “difficult” to interact with the keyboard, Apple needs to find a solution to work naturally on Vision Pro. On the gesture side, navigation is fully covered.
Is it easier to replace iPad than Mac and iPhone? An intermediary
We were already talking about iPadOS and using apps. If it was difficult to use the iPad with accessories back then, what will make you think it will be easier in Vision Pro? The iPad was initially intended as a secondary device to the iPhone. They said it was a giant iPod touch and was seen as intended to entertain users, beyond productive purposes.
The iPad is also very portable, more than a Mac but less than an iPhone, The fact is that Apple Vision Pro is portable but its use is currently limited both by the battery and by the environment. Apple Vision Pro should yes or yes be a lighter and easier to carry device, but not for use in non-recommended locations.
One point in favor of Apple Glasses is that they will save us from holding a device and straining our necks for several hours by having all the content before our eyes effortlessly. The integration of iPad apps into Vision Pro brings it to life for the moment.
Apple TV, Apple Watch, AirPods and HomePod, replaceable?
To conclude this point of analysis, will Apple Vision Pro be able to replace other existing accessories? Perhaps the Apple TV will now be the easiest to replace. If the entertainment apps, whether streaming or video gamesare available as soon as possible, the Apple TV could be phased out in the next few years provided it is more affordable to get Apple Vision Pro and not as expensive as it is today.
The Apple Watch is a great complement to the iPhone. Perhaps to replace glasses, a completely different design should be considered.. Adapt the Apple Watch Features, such as including heart rate monitoring, will not be easy. Not on this current device.
Apple Vision Pro has an excellent audio system. Hearing aids will always be essential when we want to close the environment to ourselves, so glasses cannot replace them. If we think about the HomePod, the audio it offers is also impeccable but they can be wiped off the board given that the Apple glasses already have quality audio and visual entertainment that the Apple speaker does not not offering today.
Apple Vision Pro will be taken seriously in future versions
In conclusion, We see that Apple glasses must be adapted according to the needs of each user. Also adapt to the functions to be considered a product capable of replacing what we use today. The way to start will be the same time, that Apple is able to reduce the final price and be affordable for a good portion of users.
Just like there are iPhones, iPads and Macs of different ranges, Apple Vision should also be divided by ranges. Functions may be lost but the essence that Apple wishes to bring to all its users will be preserved as long as succeed in making visionOS an operating system as necessary as iOS has becomeiPadOS and macOS.
