There are few things worse than opening a chat app like Discord and finding that the conversation has progressed a lot while we’re gone. the only thing we can do is return to the last point where we were connected and read all the messages that have been published since then.

The new innovation that OpenAI is involved in could eliminate this drawback forever. This organization became famous thanks to ChatGPT, its “chatbot” capable of doing everything we ask of it, and now it comes to Discord.
Discord with ChatGPT is official
In fact, Discord already had something similar to ChatGPT, although it was far from the achievements we have seen in recent months in the sector; hence this deal, which will allow Discord to use ChatGPT technology to turn Clyde into a ‘chatbot’ with all sorts of clever features.
We’ve already discussed the most interesting: Discord’s AI will be able to generate summaries of what happened in the group chat between when we disconnected and reconnected. In this way, the first thing we will see when entering will be a text that will explain what happened and how the conversation is going, which will allow us to join the discussion as if we had been there since it started. It’s especially useful in global groups, with users who live in different parts of the world and may post at different times.
Clyde will also be able to be invited as a chatbot in our groups, and will appear as another user to whom we can send direct messages to ask questions as we would in ChatGPT. Additionally, group admins can create new threads on their channel using Clyde with different user groups.
ChatGPT integration in Discord will arrive next week for early adopters. To fix the big problem with ChatGPT, which can “freak out” after multiple questions and show answers that don’t make sense or contain false information, Discord will select a few users first before rolling out the feature to everyone.
On the matter of privacy, Discord confirmed that this AI will be an optional thing that admins will have to enable if they wish. Also, when we send a direct message to Clyde, a message will appear reminding us that we should not tell him secrets or depend on his advice; that, despite the fact that Discord has promised that the information will not be sent to OpenAI servers.
