Being rated as the “mobile expert” in the family, something I don’t like too much, besides, many family members with cell phone issues have been coming to me for years. And I was able to check how not to do a good cleaning of the mobile, especially the charging port, This may result in the mobile not working properly or being completely unusable. Something that also has no solution in some cases.
One of my recent conclusions, based precisely on a relative, is that Not only is it enough to clean it, but it matters (and a lot) to do it well. Although dirt can be removed relatively easily, not cleaning it can be deadly to the phone. Literally.
Screen issues, loading and even leaving the mobile as a clipboard
We take our mobile everywhere and not always in the best conditions. No matter how well our pants, bags and backpacks are washed, it is almost inevitable that there will be some lint inside, no matter how small. In fact, those small lint and dust They can fit into nooks and crannies like the charging port with astonishing ease and thus prevent it from recharging or doing so without interruption.
Thus, it is crucial to keep the charging port clean. The last member of my family who approached me was a repeat offender. Back in its day, it was already having charging issues due to dirt, but it was time to clean the port and make all the errors go away. Once again he ran into trouble and it occurred to him to use a pin to clean it up. Fatal error.
While I don’t end up discouraging its use, sharp utensils are not recommended for cleaning. Sometimes even being very delicate in the task, mistakes can be made. In the case of this family member, there is no possible remedy but to replace the charging port with a new one, a repair that has already proven so costly that it may turn out to be more profitable to buy a new smartphone.
Keeping it is not viable, since there is no way to recharge it and since it is not a mobile compatible with wireless and cable charging, it can no longer do so. By the time the battery ran out, it was all over. The phone doesn’t have enough power to turn on, although luckily it has a copy of its data, so everything was fine there.
The use of liquids is doubly harmful: moisture can penetrate inside the device and if it is abrasive, it can damage the screen.
On other occasions I have met other even worse problems due to liquids.
Because yes, liquid and electronics are mortal enemies. If any liquid gets inside, even in the form of moisture, it can end up causing the components to rust. Consequently, the mobile will tend to break down or even become unusable and little more than a clipboard.
Nevertheless, cleaning and choosing the right utensils is decisive. As advice to clean the mobile without fear, I will say that for the screen and the frame, the less liquid the better. Sometimes a simple lint-free microfiber cloth is enough, but if you need a liquid, make it isopropyl alcohol. For the orifices, there is no liquid and it is possible to use items such as hard pads, toothbrushes, etc. Never sharp elements or abrasive liquids. Your mobile will thank you. And you too.
