Google is integrating important new features into some of its most used applications, such as a few days ago in Wallet or in Files by Google itself. Some lines of code have been found in the distribution of the APK file of this application in which you can read an option for compress files and another to group folders which are the most commonly consulted.
This application has proven be a great tool for all types of tasks and little by little it is getting closer to what would be a complete file editor like the iconic Windows Total Commander; It even allows you to send multiple files to your PC from your mobile.
In version 1.4237.652465286.1-release beta it was possible to access the activation of several flags to test new features that are coming soon. The most important thing is the file compression option that will allow you to create ZIP files from the application itself.
These types of files are commonly used to reduce their size in KB and introduce several or more of them into a ZIP file, which makes it easier to save or attach an email. This option was available in Files by Google, the only thing is that it was not allowed to create them, but simply to open those that were already in the mobile memory.
The other big new feature in the Google app is the Add to Collection option. What it does is pin any folder to the Collection tab on the home screen from Google Files. And the goal is none other than to organize the many folders that the user has on his mobile. It’s like marking a folder as a favorite and thus having quick access from the application.
Of course, this new feature is only available for folders and the ability to pin files for quick access is left out. By being able to pin folders Others can be added to the current two private folder and the one dedicated to favorite files.
There is another detail that can be seen in this update, which is that it has been moved the Collections section to the Categories sectionso these pinned folders will always appear for quick access. It should be remembered that these two important new features are available from the beta version and are not yet active, since it is Assemble Debug that enabled them for Android Authority.
