The next Android 13 update is already in development. After the release of Android 13 QPR2 beta, a future feature has been discovered that would make the process of changing eSIMs easierfrom one phone to a new one.

Android 13 QPR2 hides Google’s attempt to manage eSIMs
eSIMs are the virtual replacement for traditional SIM cards, but, Until now, Android did not allow you to manage them with total comfort. To transfer an eSIM profile from one phone to another, it must first be deactivated on the old mobile, then activated on the new one.
Not that the process is particularly tedious but it is not a direct solution, having to call the operator to reactivate the card slows down this change. At the competition, Apple offers a solution to this problem: the Quick start function allows you to change the SIM card (whether physical or virtual) from one iPhone to another without having to contact the supplier.
It is here where Google enters the scene to imagine a similar tool for its mobile operating system. According to Mishaal Rahman, the well-known Android editor, we will soon be able to transfer an eSIM profile from an old Android to a new one. Not only that, but Android will have the ability to convert a physical SIM card to a virtual one.
You may soon be able to transfer an eSIM profile from an old Android phone to a new phone or convert a profile on a physical SIM card to an eSIM profile. Profile transfer support is being implemented in Google’s SIM Manager app, LPA on Pixel, and many GMS devices.

Fortunately for other manufacturers, this new utility seems to be implemented in devices supporting GMS (Google Mobile Services). We will see in the future if Samsung, Xiaomi or Oppo choose to include it.
Android does not want to be left behind and to do this it adapts to user demands. If eSIMs are here to stay, users of Google’s operating system will see a new need covered.
