A notification appears in the Instagram settings, as soon as you access the profile settings: all procedures that were previously in the app will go to the account center, an organized section that aspires to unite all Meta services. And from this account center, the options to delete Instagram account forever or for a limited time will also be offered.
The same thing happens in social networks as in insurance contracts, mobile tariffs and the like: to enter there is no major problem, another very different thing is to exit. Instagram does not allow you to delete the account from the Android app for example, quite the opposite of what happens on the iPhone: users of an Apple mobile have an easier time. Of course, everything will change, since the Meta Account Center will assume all responsibilities.
Delete Instagram account moves
If you’ve gone into your Instagram app settings, you’ll likely find a notice at the top of the screen: “Account settings will change places“. This is important not only to configure all the personal or business profile variables, but also concerns another very important option: the deletion of the Instagram account.
Until now, Instagram offered deletion with very specific steps: you had to access certain URLs on the platform to complete the process; either a temporary deletion or a permanent deletion of the account. Soon said process will change due to the inclusion of the account center.
As Instagram itself warns:
“Soon, the Account Center will be the main place where you can manage your account information and settings.”
Currently, Instagram has not changed the steps to access profile deletion or deactivation, but everything will change as the Account Center acquires the configuration options offered by Meta: Only from here can changes be made to the profile. The process will be as follows:
- Go to the Instagram account center and log in with your account data.
- Once logged in, you’ll see your Instagram account on the right of the screen, and if you’ve connected it to Facebook, that profile will also appear.
- Go to the “Personal data” section.
- Click on “Account Ownership and Control» then in «Deactivation or deletion“.
- Select the account you want to delete permanently or for a limited time, what Meta calls “deactivation”.
- Click “Delete Account” or “Disable Account”, depending on what you prefer to do with your profile.
- Meta will keep your account deactivated for 30 days before permanently deleting it. You can activate it again in case you want to recover it: you just have to connect to it.
The process of deleting and deactivating Instagram profile from Account Center not yet fully active in settings, so it probably won’t show up yet. While Meta finishes rolling it out, it is still possible to delete the Instagram account by following the old steps.
