Words from a Foxconn supervisor to employees at the Zhengzhou plant.
COVID-19 outbreaks are ravaging China, so much so that last November the world’s largest iPhone factory, Foxconn, had to shut down in the Chinese city of Zhengzhou.
However, the Zhengzhou lockdown is not the only concern of Foxconn employees. This alarming situation has given rise to numerous criticisms concerning the inhuman and dangerous conditions where factory workers work.
And now, even more disturbing news has emerged. According to reports from Rest of World, a supervisor at Foxc onn’s Zhengzhou factory advised employees not to take tests despite showing symptoms related to the serious illness so they could continue working.
iPhone manufacturing is going through the worst moment in its history
We recently knew that the iPhone 14 Pro supply was very rare and I wasn’t going to be able to keep up with the demand on Christmaslargely due to problems with Foxconn’s installation in Zhengzhou.
Currently, the factory seems to have recovered almost all of its production capacity
According to reports from the Rest of the World, production line employees wear N95 Masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19, but still catch it, especially in break rooms, where workers sleep nearby.
A Foxconn employee claimed that his supervisor had advised three workers not to take testsdespite the symptoms to be able to continue working on the iPhone production line.
This employee, who wished to remain anonymous, clarified that had to work two days with a fever while waiting for the results of his test. As for his colleagues, he claimed that they “couldn’t even walk normally”.
Foxconn factories are under great pressure Because Apple has to meet strong demand for the iPhone 14, especially at these facilities in the city of Zhengzhou, known to be the largest iPhone factory in the world.
The Foxconn factory in Zhengzhou is home to more than 200,000 workers and it’s the only one in charge of making models like the iPhone Pro 14. What do you think of this unfortunate news?
