You may not know it, but just having a Netflix account already allows you to access various video games on your Android mobile; It’s one of those benefits that may go unnoticed, but it’s there.

The latest example is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, a game that elicits a lot of nostalgia among those of us who watched the original cartoon series and played the early games.
The new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game
And it is that Shredder’s Revenge is not based on the series produced in the last decade, available on Netflix, or on the movies, or anything like that. It’s based on the anime series that aired between the late 80s and first half of the 90s, and it’s noticeable as soon as we start the game and see an animation sequence that, if it weren’t for the quality from the picture, it would seem straight out of our childhood.
It’s not the only thing that makes it a nostalgic game, the gameplay itself also helps. It’s a classic ‘me against the neighborhood’, or ‘beat ’em up’, one of those games where you control a character and smash your way around the stage hitting waves of enemies. All the characteristics of the genre are there, such as combos, or enemies that change color to define their difficulty or the type of weapon they carry.
We can choose not only between the four aforementioned ninja turtles, but we can also choose Professor Splinter and the journalist April O’Neil to beat the army of soldiers of the Shredder and the mutants who help him and act as bosses in the end of the level.
Everything about this game oozes style, especially the style you don’t see often anymore. That is why it is curious that Netflix has decided to invest in this game, taking into account that the original Ninja Turtles series is not available on its platform, although the latest productions and films are, with a very different style. That might be because this game was actually first released on consoles and PC, and Netflix only allowed it to be distributed on mobile.
The best thing is that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is completely free, but only if we have a Netflix account. We can download the game from the Play Store without paying, but when it starts it will ask us to log in with our account. It’s an incentive to pay for a Netflix subscription, even if the one with ads isn’t worth it.
