In July 2018, the European Commission imposed Google a historic fine of 4,340 million euros Outstanding position for Android. The Mountain View company was accused of violating anti-competitive laws for some reason, in the first installment of Google and Chrome's search engine.
On August 2, 2019, Google promised that by 2020 it would use a selection screen (Selection screen) which offers various search engines for all new Android phones and tablets that have the Google Search System (Google Search) announced. Now, choose what different search engines will show in each European Union country for these new Android users.
DuckDuckGo, Info.com and Qwant in Spain
Starting March 1, Google will let you choose which search engine we want to use when launching the program for the first time, and in your Chrome browser. The selection process has gone through an auction where companies would like to access that option they were to participate in the auction. The top three protesters will appear next to Google's search engine and the process will be repeated every four months.
Yes, the first-time auction has passed and we already know it three default search engines will appear next to Google from March 1 to June 30, 2020. The options vary by country, but in all cases, the user-selected provider will be a line of searches made in Chrome and in the search box on the Android home screen. A dedicated application for that provider will also be installed on your device:
