Software updates have always been a headache on Google, at least when it comes to operating systems. Now: Chrome OS users have not suffered the same fate as that of Android since the makers of computers they used to update their devices for several years of newer versions, depending on the product type and model. And this will improve from now on since Google is committed to it extending support time.
Chromebook computers, which are based on Chrome OS, point mainly to the education sector, in an area where devices can be frequently updated. So Google is hard on updates: right now, all new Chromebook models have been sold they will have eight years of Chrome OS updates.
8 years of new Chromebook models
As we mentioned, Chrome OS updates so far depend on manufacturers; which, like Android phones, extend support time depending on the device despite Google's efforts. This is changing from now on, because, as the company confirmed, all computers with Chrome OS are being launched from now on to enjoy a wider period of rehabilitation.
Although they are good news, this is not a duplicate, so the models have been sold before they will continue to depend on the choices provided by each product. Usually, usually about five or six years; although it all depends on the specific model of the Chromebook and its manufacturer. With the new approach provided by Google, the company looks to provide better software support than Android users, in particular education sector. After all, and despite the large number of computers with Chrome OS, the hardware is pretty much the same.
Newer versions of the Chromebook, such as the recently introduced Acer Chromebook 712, will enjoy this eight-year system update. Assurance that computers will not run out in the short term, at least when it comes to software.
