Google News is now available in Europe. After leaving our country almost eight years ago, we can once again enjoy its famous personalized news aggregator with which we can keep up to date with news from our city, province, country and the rest of the world.

Google News It is a very simple application to use, but in order for it to show us the news that most interests us, we must configure it and use it its most important options that will allow us to get the most out of itas we will see below.

Configure the languages ​​and regions you are interested in

The first thing we need to do is make sure in which languages ​​and countries we are going to see the news in Google News. By default it should show news in our language and country, but by clicking on our profile picture we can access News settings > Languages ​​and regions you are interested in to add languages ​​and regions if we want to keep up to date with news in other languages ​​and countries.

Configure Notifications

Google News you can send us notifications with the most outstanding news of the day, but from News settings > Notifications we can configure the notifications we want to receive, the number of notifications or directly disable notifications from the application.

Activate minimaps to see more titles on screen

If you want to see more titles on screen, you can activate the mini tarjeta from the app settings. This option hides the first fragments of news from the map to show only the titles and reduces the size of the images on the cover, allowing us to see more news on the screen.

Set dark theme

Like most apps, Google News also has a Dark theme. By default, this option will be enabled with device dark theme but we can enable dark theme forever from app settings.

Set autoplay

From the settings we can also configure the Autoplay. By default, videos will always play automatically, but we can configure them to play only over Wi-Fi to save data or disable said autoplay.

Find topics, places and sources to follow

Google News It allows us to follow hundreds of topics and thousands of sources, as well as news from any location. To do this, just use your search engine or go to the tab Next for add topics, sources and locations for local news.

Hide news from sources you don’t care about

And Google News shows us news from a source that is not our trust from the news menu, we can hide your news to allow you to see the news of this media. In the Google News settings, we can see in the “Sources and topics you see less” section all the sources and topics that we have blocked.

Say which news you like more or less

If we see a news that we do not like but we do not want to block said source, in the menu of the news card we find the options “Less news like this” or “More news like this”. Thus, we can tell Google News which news we like the most.

Save news to read later

Finally, if we see a news item that we cannot read at the time, we can save it to read later from its options menu. News and articles marked “Save for later” will be available in the “Forward” tab.
