Apple has opened incredible retail locations around the world, but few are as beautiful as its newest store, Apple The Exchange TRX, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s new Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) central business district, Apple designed the store with a pyramid-style roof designed to refract and enhance lighting inside and outside the store:
Apple The Exchange TRX connects the mall’s central atrium to a lush rooftop park that surrounds the upper level of the store. Emitting a warm glow at night, the three-dimensional layered roof consists of horizontal glass panels and shading blades to reduce the sun’s rays. A glazed central oculus brings daylight into the interior and includes dynamic artificial lighting.
Inside the store, a sculptural quartz and glass staircase connects the three levels where customers can explore, learn and shop. The Forum, which hosts Today at Apple programming, is located on a floating terrace that joins the mall, while the upper level is directly connected to the edge of the park, bringing daylight and greenery into the store through a continuous glass facade.
The store’s design has attracted customers across the city, with many sharing their experiences on X (formerly Twitter) and other social media platforms. Tim Cook released an image of the store this morning showing a long line of excited shoppers as the store opened its doors for the first time.
The store runs on 100% renewable energy and features natural stone walls, polished stainless steel columns, light terrazzo floors and a wooden ceiling. In addition to the Genius Bar and convenience area, the store also includes a dedicated pickup counter for online purchases.
