Inflation is going to be many people’s worst enemy in the coming months and its impact will also be felt in technology. Some brands are already raising their prices, like Apple with iPhones and iPads, or like Nothing with its headphones. And yes, this will also happen with YouTube.
Currently, YouTube Premium subscription plans are already increasing in different parts of the world, and there is every indication that they will do so globally. Adapt to different inflations so it seems so, but they are already on the rise. And if nothing changes, it will be Europe’s turn
YouTube Premium will go up just as millennials arrive
YouTube Premium is Google’s paid subscription through which we can remove all traces of advertising from the YouTube video platform, but we also have access to the music platform, YouTube Music. Currently, Youtube Premium in Europe is priced at 11.99 dollars (17.99 dollars per family) but everything indicates that this price will not last long. The highs are coming.
The most striking, at least of those produced so far, comes from Argentina. The South American country is currently experiencing (and this is nothing new) brutal inflation that is on track to end 2022 at 100%. There everything goes up exorbitantly and YouTube Premium too. The subscription in the country went from 119 pesos to 389 pesos. And it’s tax free. After taxes, the increase is from 210 pesos to 685 pesos. And 326%.
This wild price inflation does not apply to everyone but, for example, in the United States we also have YouTube Premium download. The house of the platform knows in particular its price increase when the subscription goes from 18 to 23 dollars per month. $5 in total, an increase of 28%
As we said at the beginning, in Europe the price remains for now at 11.99 dollars per month for the individual subscription and 17.99 dollars for the family subscription. Following the logic of movements in other countries, It is to be expected that YouTube Premium will also increase prices in Europe.
