Apple releases the first major Final Cut Pro update dedicated to the iPad, adding keyboard shortcuts to improve the editing experience.
After its release in May, Apple is giving Final Cut Pro for iPad its first 1.1 update. In addition to improving the stability and performance of the application, keyboard shortcuts added. For the majority of users who are 100% dedicated to editing in this amazing application, hotkeys are essential.
Final Cut Pro for iPad is updated with keyboard shortcuts
Being an application for iPad, it is quite normal to use it by touch but with adding a keyboard can improve interaction as if it were a Mac
Previously some basic shortcuts have been enabled but not fully, i.e. when performing some shortcuts such as Mac, it did not perform any action. Apple’s notes on the app update are as follows:
- Enable/disable the setting with the keyboard shortcut N.
- Move the playhead backward or forward 10 frames with the keyboard shortcuts Shift-Left Arrow and Shift-Right Arrow.
- View clip information in the Browser using the Control-I keyboard shortcut.
- Enable or disable dragging with the keyboard shortcut S.
- Enable or disable audio drag using the keyboard shortcut Shift-S.
- Split and reorient multicam clips with hotkeys 1, 2, 3 and 4.
- Show or hide the selection wheel using the keyboard shortcut Control-Shift-W; expand or collapse it using Control-W.
- Switch the scroll wheel between playhead mode and nudge mode using the keyboard shortcut Shift-W.
- Fixes an issue with custom fonts not appearing in the inspector.
- Fixes bugs that improve overall stability and performance.
An app that doesn’t provide a full experience could improve Final Cut Pro on iPad over time
In the strict sense, Apple has long deprived us of its best video editing application on the iPad even knowing the capabilities their devices would have. We understand that it can be difficult to deliver a full experience in a short time, even if the current app is good but its quality can be improved.
Upcoming Mac features should be coming to iPad soon bit by bit. In future updates, we will surely see an application that is more refined in terms of functions, but also tries to get closer to the macOS experience on iPad.
Have you ever tried Final Cut Pro for iPad? Keep in mind this only affects the 12.9-inch iPad Pro (5th or 6th generation), 11-inch iPad Pro (3rd or 4th generation), and fifth-generation iPad Air with iPadOS 16.4 or later later. You can try it for 30 days and then pay 4.99 dollars.
